NOT a Boutique Run … !

Well, it was really but am fed up of that statement …….

So, a small but sophisticated group of 4H banded together in wonderful weather (am a poet too …!)

We had some (as we now know …) vague and not complete instructions from the Hare – Downhill,- and set of at a cracking pace. We were warned that there was no water, but we could cross it without getting our socks wet … this was good news for Dripper …

Cherisse, our new walker, was a bit tardy in her appearance but managed to catch up. (Her limo driver was unavailable so she had to drive herself ….aaahhh !)

Despite all the worries or not, we all managed to converge back at the start eventually.

The Hare was duly charged for not being specific about his trail for walkers (WHERE HAD THE W’s GONE ?) and not much else happened …

or I forgot ! It was a very good run though and enjoyed by all …. Great to see a few returnee’s too !

We were a tad chilly as the sun set so the circle got smaller and smaller as we huddled around Skippy’s fire. He even managed to get his oldish sneakers a wee bit molten …. Watch out for new shoes !

Till next week

The Post-Spinifex Run !

A small select boutique gaggle of Hashers congregated at the very tiny car park that young Skippy had chosen. We managed to cram ourselves in and, as the weather was kind, we waited in anticipation for run instructions. They were a bit vague with lots of hand waving and gesticulating ! However, runners and walkers set off in the same direction with lots of W’s veering off for walkers.

According to my inside information, the run was a bit lumpy, rocky and steep. The trail was well marked and the pack kept together. Also, Dripper did not come back with wet socks despite having to cross a few creeks ! The walk was really pleasant for all …

Once we had all returned safely, we convened the circle with the stand-in GM and stand-in RA …. we were surprised to see the RA, in full Monk attire, wearing the Lame-Duck hat ! Hmmm …. more to come …..

There was a virgin walker this week (with her limo driver) so welcome to Hills Hash …… Ha Ha Ha – was fun showing how to do a down-down !

Other charges were, of course, for the Hare and a few others who were not that significant, were you Skimpy ??? ! The Lame Duck wearer explained it was a gardening accident but, you know ….. well …..um !?

A significant mention needs to be made that THERE WAS NO SPINIFEX ON THIS RUN … OMG …. thank goodness ! Some of us have had enough of those needles ….

Run #1830

Twenty nine hashmen and harriettes squeezed their cars into the intersection of Park road and Great Eastern highway opposite Bilgoman pool for a romp in John Forrest National Park. The park ranger promptly closed the park gates at 4 pm so what were we waiting for to start the run? Dripper?? The walkers proceeded along a nice bush trail with abundant purple flowers to view. The trail ended at the viewpoint of the Perth skyline on Park road. Runners followed a more circuitous route. A long stretch down through trail-less bush coming out on a firebreak road that wound its way up over a hill an eventually down to the old railroad at the entrance to the tunnel. A flat stretch along the old railroad then a grueling uphill slog back to Park road and an easy On In to the drink coolers.  Notable welcome backs were the Marsot family. Don’t wait so long till your next return! Short cutting special of the night went to Shagged Out who was shagged out after the first hill. On On till next week…..P. Merah

How To Lose Your Father In One Easy Lesson !

Fathers Day turn-out was really good and we all found our way to the Red Hill location which had a gorgeous view over the city …… Ahh ! but … that is where we can stop musing on pleasantries and get back to the business of Hashing

So, arriving fashionably late as usual, the GM only just made it for the start. We were given run instructions by Skippy, who had obviously done his homework and set a bush trek !

Well, what a great run this was … well at least the walkers were very pleased with the interesting flowering bush. It was a real treat. The runners went off into the blue and, although we did not see them, the Horn was blowing at regular times. There was a drink stop so, we were anticipating it for quite some time, instead we kept coming across very *secret* campers (bit like Picnic at Hanging Rock….spooky cos there was no-one there …..keep that thought !) as we came out into grassy glades.

Eventually, after much tramping, we emerged into a lovely glade, made lovlier by the warming beverage enjoyed by all. Just couldn’t quite figure out what was amiss but among the mirth someone’s Dad was missing ??? Well you do have another parent so … not too bad … * HOWEVER*  could this mean that the said person may have been SHORTCUTTING ?   (and got lost)    Tee Hee !

After a short run back to the start we were relieved (maybe) to see the Dad, who was making all sorts of excuses as to his disappearance ! Think back to the *Picnic at Hanging Rock* and insert that spooky ooo ooo oo oo ooo oo music ! (Oh just imagine it then …)

Alls well that ends well so ….. the GM was fined big time for assuming some sort of *royal*  priviledge by arriving whenever. This incurred the wrath of the RA and the “Bucket of Shame” was used ….. The errant Dad was fined for being lost & son of Dad fined for managing to lose him (on Fathers Day !)  plus other fines that escape me at the moment.

Great run overall … with snacks and things at the finish

Till next time

Celebration To The Max ….or…..The Curious Incident of the Water In Face !

Magic moments folks …and this was one of them …

We celebrated a special !st birthday of baby Max who will now be known as * The Teflon Kid *  !

We assembled at the home of Skimpy and family with promises of bonfire, jolly boating, canoeing and swimming ! Not a great deal of these were EVER going to happen but the bonfire did & was good !

Anyway, we were given instructions by Free Beer (interpreting for Teflon Kid who was the offiicial Hare …) and some vague extra stuff from Skimpy …. HOWEVER, he ommitted quite a lot,  as many Hashers were not totally familiar with 4H signs ….  Hence the walkers were led on a completely random meander around the ‘burb …. with the promise of a drink stop …(what milk and cookies  …?) YES it did magically appear, and we had bubbly stuff and still brown nectar … YUM … Then it was back to the start which was an interesting walk with Skimpy waving arms around in relevant direction … (did I mention he kept going the wrong way most of the walk cos he *knew knot where he was* ….Groan)

Oh …and so it went but eventually runners and walkers were back and we had some nibblies and Birthday Cake !

Young Max got his name and had a lot of help from Mum in blowing out his candles ! (Of course the incident of having a cup of water thrown into his face will haunt him for a long time …!) Too much enthusiasm methinks …!

The runners were reasonably happy with the trail but walkers were not as it was erratically marked …What would you expect from a 1 year old crawling the whole trail ? …

After the circle we had a bit of a warm up round the bonfire before going home for a nice glass of milk and a nap !

Best Ever False Trail Start … EVER … !

What an amazing start to this weeks run …. a false trail right at the start …. Ha Ha ! Well, it was only on the walkers trail but still FUNNY  !  This falsie fooled no-one … !

As we has no Hash GM or Hash Nun,  we managed … (no-one is to mention Freo footy next week …TAKE NOTE OF THAT  …  )

Great turn-out and no sign of rain so all good …

We went on what was described for walkers as *usually the runners trail* but sooooo picturesque and with views that were stunning (glad we live here eh ???)

So after a wonderful frolic through the “bursting with buds bushland”, we wound back at the fabulous rendevous of D’ton PO ! Oh ! Joy and Jumping Jacks …. T’was good people … and no lost bods or injuries … Too good.

We had a VIRGIN runner today who tried to name himself  (I think he may have had insider information ?   Or… why name himself as * Condom*  … No wait .. got that wrong …  Qandong  ..or something …..  but of course it went badly for him and he may be *Ding-Dong* or even *Avon*)

Tee… Hee …

Oh too much information so we had a great night and NOSH was super and warm and filling ! Thanks guys !

Best RA barr NUN

What an amazing Hash NUN we have….. she managed to hold off the rain for the entire run and that was no mean feat, as we arrived in torrential rain moments with following heavy showers….

Despite ominous skies we were a reasonable group huddled under shelter. The run and walk was mostly in bushland round the extremeties of Kalamunda ! It was a great run, with the added feature of a drink stop, (including bubbles) with a view ! Both runners and walkers had separate stops (always an advantage !….) and returned with everyone intact and safe and sound !

Circle had usual charges and fines, the RA got her HASH NUN badge (treasure it !)  … more Birthdays were celebrated ( who keeps having them I ask ?) … and was reasonably short due to inclement weather having to appear after holding it in for so long ! (not dis-similar to some Hashers who needed to dash off into the bushes ……)

Great stuff ….

Dripper’s 600th Run …or … Get a Life !

There was a very sunny, colourful Hash gathering this week to celebrate the magnificent and * awesuspicious * occasion of Dripper’s 600th run. He was presented with a fetching feather bra and a yellow flag to take on the run. Most Hashers were dressed in long frocks to help him celebrate this achievement.

Directions were given for runners and walkers with the separate trails marked very well.  The trail wound its way past numerous watering establishments, at one of which we actually needed to spend some time. It would have been longer had it not been for the doggies we had in tow … but swiftly moving along, we found ourselves back at the  start. Our outfits caused a bit of a stir in the leafy suburb of Guilford and traffic slowed to a crawl-by. (Tee – Hee)

The circle was entertainig with the new GM, RA & On-Sec being fully in control. (well almost …!) There were numerous charges and nonesense but we were anticipating a delicious dinner at the third watering hole, so it was short and sweet.

Where Are You Scooby Doo …? REVISITED

As the weather closed in and rain was imminent, the new GM and RA appeared just in time. I think the RA was hoping to appease the Rain Gods but it wasn’t really working. The Hare, GPS, gave some quick instructions as walkers and runners set off in their respective directions.

AND THEN THE RAIN CAME DOWN…..

Runners sped off quick smart and walkers put up their brolly’s and braved the wind and rain (tough lot !) but not all as a few were reluctant to get drenched so hung about with random people sheltering under the meagre railway awning.

Eventually, we all went for a bit of a walk and caught up with returning walkers. Very funny really as it was such a short walk we were back in 30 minutes. Runners were out a little bit longer but some trail had washed out so GPS was herding the pack like a mother – hen ! Sweet ….

It was with some cobnsternation that we waited for 2 missing runners, 3 if you count GPS arriving via a short cut ….AHA …..He DOES deserve the SCB Trophy ! Still no sign of Scooby and a visiting Hasher but everyone swore they saw them arriving at the station at the back of the pack !????

After a serious discussion re:Occ Health & Safety, we carried on with the circle where there were lots of down-downs  from the new RA as well as name badges given out to very excited littles ! There had been cake for Sheep Shunters birthday so obviously he had a down-down as well !

We then finished and thought about leaving the lost Hashers to their fate (being mauled by small rodents, having wet dangly bits of bush slithering over them !) but some of us stayed and we sent GPS off on his bike to look for them. At exactly that time they returned, safe and sound having just been on a tourist trek ! (Lecture about safety was given but apparently they did tell someone ! …Next time tell someone who is not deaf ! ! !)

Oh it was a good run really and a few of us had a super HOT curry later …. Certainly warmed the cockles …..YUUUMMMMMM !

Dress up next week to celebrate Drippers 600th run !

Out With The Old – In With The New ! (or The All Aldi Run !)

On a very pleasant afternoon, we gathered at the chosen venue for our *annual meeting held each year*

The Hare’s set a short but sweet run meandering through orchards, paddocks and laneways. It was indeed short and we were back in no time at all, ready to get into the celebrations and frivolities of this annual event held annually !

There was a bit of a circle with the run being voted as good by both runners and walkers. Then a few random charges, such as new faces, no Hash gear and other minimal stuff.

Then the formalities began in earnest with awards given to deserving (or not) Hashers and then ……. Taa   Daa ! …..  Election of the NEW  CUMMITTEE …. Hmph ….
