One Two Bickley My Shoe !

Out in the wilds of Bickley was where we gathered with black sky heightening the anxiety of rain ! The RA did a reasonable job of holding the rain at bay…DOSH as the Hare set an admirable trail for runners and walkers alike (occasionally round and round the many towers of Bickley…”keep them in sight ” she said, in case WE get lost…!) It was a long run but …really….for the HARE to get lost was just HILARIOUS ! (Still laughing !) She was spotted assisting P. Merah to find trail….Yeah..right !

When all Hashers were accounted for, we got on with  the circle which involved  * 2 * NEW SHOES moments, a few SCB’s and general mayhem ensued as the stand-in GM lost all control ! ! (Such is life !) Down-downs were administered and there were a few small err…”cocktails” called Purple Rain in memory of the passing of Prince (or Purple Pain if referring to Dockers) They were quite purple and potent.

As it was Hash Nosh night we had the lovely Redlight deliver hot steamy pea & ham soup, which, I am told, was delicious….remember to bring your eating irons and cups and bowls over winter as most Nosh will be of the hearty soup/stew variety !

So till next weeks run …in the very remote wilds of Gidgegannup ! (check location Tilden Rd/Old Coach Rd intersection)

iPadius’s Introductory Incline !

What a splendid day it was for a series of “Firsts” Young iPadius got to set his first run, it was the first Sunday with proper rain for most of the run and we lost a certain Hasher for the first time ! ! !

We assembled at the Darlington ‘Railway Station’ carpark as the clouds started to look a bit ominous. The Hare gave us some basic guidelines about no hills or water ! Ha ..Ha ! The walk was set by Shagged Out who mentioned that it may be a tad long ! Ha again !!!

So we set off as the heavens opened and those brave and fearless runners took off at speed (in the hope of running between the raindrops ?) and from all accounts it was a somewhat arduous run with lots of hills and, obviously, water.

The walkers had to navigate narrow paths with dripping everything and went up & up &up into the clouds (really !) Then it went down & and down and then flattened out to be in Glen Forrest or Chidlow or somewhere a long way away from the venue.

Still, eventually we all got back *** EXCEPT FOR FRANGA*** who came from the completely wrong direction after meeting some Darlingtonites who helped him find his way back ! (Almost another Skimpy Hee …..Hee !)

The circle was quite lively as the down-downs were spiked with Sambucca (Sorry GPS ! again and a BIG sorry to poor Karri who almost wore the spit) and it wasn’t really nice with the Fanta’s ! Plenty of fines were handed out but as it looked like even more rain, we abandoned the circle. As umbrellas were opened Pink Bits managed to skittle Karri but being a brave little collie she just ran to her owner and was escorted to her car ! Hope she is ok ?

P.S. Hash Nosh next week !

Dogs, Dogs and Still More Dogs ! (Oh, and a Beach or Two)

We had a great turn-out for the run this week and at the correct time of  *  4PM  *  ! The Monk had worked his magic and the weather remained wonderful ! We were given the usual instructions from the Hares and off went the excited, expectant pack ! Runners and walkers trails were set in opposite directions so paths occasionally crossed and the horn was heard quite a lot over the sound of jets from the nearby airport.

There was a large expanse of bushland, floodplain, river-bank and open grassed area. All in all, a vey pleasant Sunday afternoon which was also evident by the large number of locals promenading with their little or BIG pooches !

Back in the circle (with no-one lost this week !) there were some nibblies and a shot of green ginger wine. Then on to the serious business of Hashing when we had the usual charges including short-cutting b’s, no Hash attire or just for being Skimpy-just for being …..etc.!

After, a few of us stayed for a beaut BBQ ending just as it got dark.

Till next week…..
