Spooky Sunday Shuffle with Stones

A warm and pleasant afternoon had Hashers gathering in a glade just past the boys in blue …. (you had to be there …!!!) Most Hashers were suitably attired in Halloween garb of scary proportions.
We were a good pack in anticipation of Skippy’s stunning trail and we were not dissapointed. It was relatively flat, if not a bit gum nutty, but no diasasters on the way. There was a lovely drink stop too, so we enjoyed some refreshments and  then got on with the trail back. No-one got lost but the GM did come in a bit later than everyone else (with some lame excuse I think …)
The circle was quite lively with some charges from the frocked-up GM (who looked most weird with eyes that were spooky …..aaaarrrggghhhh …!) Then the RA, resplendent with blood and ghostly features, had some awards to give out as well as some more charges. All this could have been caught on camera if Hash Flash had bought it with him but instead, we have a record of it from a few mobile phones … come on Dripper …get your act together …
So endeth another great Hills Hash Run and we adjourned for nibblies and snacks.
I hope, dear reader, (and there is one of you ….?) that you noticed my subliminal message about 5pm starts from now on …. If not, you will be too early …

Short On Parking – But A Great Run …..

As usual GPS, a Master at setting runs, did a stirling job. The trail wound through various parks, waterways and even hills (mini ones) We had good weather so everyone enjoyed the run. No-one got lost and, apart from some unfair charges, the circle went very well.
The highlight of the night was a BURN at Skimpy’s that involved twisted ankles, scratches and pizza … in that order…….
Short & sweet due to time constraints this week

Back To The Bush – Part 2.

Wonderful turn out with many, many Hashers present at this run ! The weather was perfect, (if not a little warm …) and in anticipation of a quality run from P M, we were not disapointed …(except GPS … who is always dissapointed, poor soul)
Just for once, the walkers trail was not an arduous Annapurna – type  trek and although lengthy, was really pretty with LOTS of PINK flowers (very appropriate)
Runners, with the sad twisted Horn, did not fare so well as there were hills and valleys and bare bush which led to a few scrapes…..
However, on returning to the start, everyone was back eventually so the *search & rescue* team could stand down …….
The circle was a mis-mash of Vice GM or a stand -in GM ? and the usual retorts ! The RA was a hoot as per usual dishing out her sharp – tongued charges…. with WAIT FOR IT …. C I D E R  as someone (no names but you know who) did not fill the refreshment wagon with enough for the crowd of Hashers. (it was a genuine argument as we did have a vast crowd)
I think there was a birthday moment with the ubiquitous photo shoot …then we had Hash Nosh and a sliver (if lucky …) of cake. Yum … thanks to all ….!
Great run ….

Meanwhile, Back in the Bush ……

Well, this was a return to the wonders of National Parks with no hills, rocks, slopes and absolutely flat trails !
The Hare, who is no stranger to remoteness, had set a wondrous trail for both runners and walkers through some great bushland. There was a separate trail for both and it was very well marked (well for most !) with a word of warning for walkers that it was STEEP AND UP for the first kilometer or so then …..all flat and downhill !
True to her word it was just so, and with the added attraction of a bubbly drink stop (!!!) so we converged to have refreshment.
On the way back, due to a dodgy Hash Horn (sad …) we did not hear where the runners were but got back just before them.
In the circle, there was some muttering and, as usual, the GM lost control… which was quickly gained by the RA who had the Lame-Duck award ready to dish out to Scooby-Doo….. other charges were duly administered as well as one accolade which went to P M for his splendid run reports in my absence.

PS A *cheerio* goes out to certain bicycle riders (you know who you are …) who get a teensy bit of mirth from these run reports !

A Delightful Darlington Drama

1 Oct. 2017

Darlington prides itself in its artistic accomplishments. Not to be outdone the Hare presented to the Hills Hash House Harriers a drama production consisting of three acts on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Act 1 consisted in a traverse of Glebe Ave onto the bridal path. After a couple of checks there was an intermission while the FRB’s decided to check for some marks up a 45-degree slope. The hare was noticeably reluctant to follow. Act 2 was a delightful meander along the bubbling Nyaania brook ending up at the Glen Forest superblock. Act 3 was a forceful finish along bush trails to avoid pounding the pavement of Ryecroft Rd. The GM and RA must have been rolling in the flowered meadows of Piessed Brook as they were “no shows” thus Dripper took it upon himself to be the leader of the circle’s entertainment. Long-time no sees in the form of White Pointer, Wisecrack and Spekle    were welcomed back. A new walker, Carmen was a welcome addition to the youth group. After the usual On Down’s it was over and we socialized over a pleasant BBQ.

On On till next week in Piesse Brook….P. Merah
