Strettle Subterfuge ! ! !

On a magnificent day, we had an exceptionally large turn-out for the run. Who would have thought that there was much mischief afoot !?
The Hares, Dripper & Pink Bits, pointed runners and walkers in the same direction On-On and it was in seconds that the first false trail became apparent as runners turned back. This confused the walkers somewhat, but they carried on following the *well marked W’s*
I say *well marked* but after only a short distance, some nasty human had deliberately wiped out the walkers trail. KARMA will get you !
Nevertheless, the tenacious walkers just meandered (slightly shepherded by Pink Bits) and eventually found trail that had not been tampered. Of course, it meant that some were off trail but found an alternative option and made it back safely.
Runners had a great trail (with some shorter possibilities for first time runner Lady Gaga, but it was not needed) They all returned a little puffed but still smiling (at least their trail was visible !) A few false trails and occasional short cutting had them come in dribs and drabs, from seemingly a few directions.
In the circle, we welcomed Hash friends from up north as well as long-time-no-see’s from the Hills. There were even 2 virgins who are now in counselling from their experience ! (They had fun) The stand-in GM (cos the regular one is on sabbatical travelling the world and Pemberton) gave out a 50 runs foot to someone ??? (sorry) The RA on her last hurrah, was quite generous in her charges …. there were a few – the down-downs had to be replenished !
We sang the song (too high notes this time) and continued to snack on chips, dips, salsa and lollies – in that order …. Another good event.
See you all at the meeting we hold annually each year ……

7 July: *Where the F**karewe Tribe* Was Evident ! (thanks to Madonna for input …)

The Hare chose a beautiful spot for the run but, sadly, got lost setting the trail. Worse still, he tried phoning himself in the hope that someone else might answer his mobile ! OMG …he admitted this – in front of a few Hashers …….Could it get any worse … ? YES, it could ! (read on ….. )
The venue was very busy with *ordinary people* parking and taking their **friends** for a lovely walk on a sunny Sunday. For the Hashers, it was also a sunny run …
When I say run, I mean a *BOOT CAMP* event …. as the runners and walkers discovered !
It seems that the walk had been well marked but – OH … DEAR … the run went missing somewhere (as the Hare) Who would look for lost runners ? Where would they look ? Who cares ?
No, we do and, so, the walkers had an uphill *trial* to start and soldiered on to the finish past lovely waterfalls and up lots of steps. The runners came back in driibs and drabs …. grimacing again in pain and sweat ! (However, some of our runners are soooo cool, they just never mention it ! – Where was Franger ?)
General comments from the pack were that this was indeed a very good run … challenging and creative !
Once the pack was back, the circle commenced and the Hare had a number of charges against him … as he should … The RA went about her business as she had worked hard to have clear sky ..
We had a VIRGIN (again) – Kelly, and she was duly inducted into our circle with some minor problems in consuming the down-down ! ! ! (all sorted now ! Poor thing will never be the same !) Long time no-sees were El Keeno and family and Merline and family …. a highlight was the charge against Free Beer who managed to drive into the portico of her home last week and re-arranged the front of the house … she then sent a text to a Hasher and let them know … Apparently, the plan is to do the same with the kitchen ! (Call Free Beer Home Renovations Inc. !) Accidents do happen … it’s embarrassing, but fun for us !
After all the down-downs , we sang our song and went home ! (No normal people were hurt during our presence

30 June 2019: Gorillas …( Um Err .. I mean) Hashers In The Mist !

Amazing, isn’t it ? On a windy, wet day with horizontal rain whipping around, we meet in a shelter-free area and have a grand turnout ! Tenacious lot !
Young Skippy had valiantly set a trail in a notoriously hilly (complete with rapids) area. The water was swirling with masses of foam !
Looking forward to setting off, we all were instructed to go together and follow usual dots and W’s, with a warning of avoiding getting run over by trains and having to cross some water (not the rapids … you are kidding …?) towards the end.
As the runners disappeared up the misty hill, the walkers did some limbo dancing under gates near the train tracks and then climbed up a steep track in the side of the hill. Watching the runners in our distinctive yellow shirts run up – down, left – right and re-materialise elsewhere was quite amusing ! Not for them however, as there were a number of slips and slides on the way.
During the actual run, we experienced an almost complete dry spell (well done to the RA again ) but towards the end the heavens opened up and freshened up everyone (especially those with already wet feet !)
Hurriedly assembling the circle, the Hare just charged himself for all possible reasons. Once the RA got going, more charges flew thick and fast …. including to some young newbies, brought along by Cheech & Skippy. Lets hope they will not be scarred for life ! The Lame Duck was presented to Dripper for managing to slip and slide a fair bit, and he caused some consternation for the Hare as he was missing for a while ! A search party was required !
Huddling around the small fire, we ended the circle with a reasonably good rendition of the club song (smoke gets in your eyes ?)
On – On
