Fun in the gravel

Run report for August 27, 2012
Hare: El Keeno
On On: Moola Rd, Mahogany Creek

The adventure began before the run had even started.  In my mind it  had seemed interesting to have everyone park quite a ways from the road in one of the many gravel clearings in the area.  I suppose it worked out okay after quite a bit of wheel spinning.  Ah, gravel…nature’s ball-bearings.

This was the week I went all-out for the walkers.  I set the walk FIRST, determined to give them a top-notch affair.  Typically, and just my luck, this was the week when most walkers were busy doing other things.  Not to worry, Frodo joined them and the three had quite a nice saunter around the bush.  (Well, they all made it back alive, which is what counts most.)

Runners started off downhill.  There was a wee bit of bush bashing where I’d lost myself while setting the trail, but not enough to draw too much blood.  Dripper did a good job of hunting out a few of the initial false trails, but overall it was a bit of a fast run, spreading out the pack. (Mental note…more and nastier false trails next time!) Skippy led much of the way until his sixth-sense abandoned him and he bolted in entirely the incorrect direction … giving me that slightly warm and fuzzy feeling that all (sadistic) Hares enjoy..

The run turned homewards once reaching O’Connor Road and then did a bit of twisty stuff on both sides of Moola.  Not nearly as long as I thought while setting it, I think we came home after about 45 minutes.

The Monks thingo of terror made no showing in the circle, but her head apparel more than made up for that.

Thing I learned for the day: there is more than one horse.

That’s it from me.
On On,
El Keeno

Now El Keeno I was gonna offer to do the write up just so you didn;t feel self concious about writing up your own run! However i can validate that it indeed was a goodly run full of gravelly fun and that we were all suitably knackered by the end. Honourable mention for “kerbside goodies”…in this case “bush-dumped goodies” being the entire interior of a ford of some sort i think…and Skippy happily loaded up the seats into his car. Dark Horse excelled himself by providing a particularly large gravel pebble as his fine into the monk’s mug. Skimpy and Free Beer strolled in from the run, having apparently walked it, 63 hours after everyone else got home. AND as to the new Monk’s hat, i wore it home in the capri with the roof down. It was very snuggly but i suspect i looked just a tad of an idiot. And yes of course i did go through a mass of police cars clustered around a minor accident, but luckily being a tad of an idiot is not yet a fineable offence!

El Keeno – please check your GPS; your words

The run turned homewards once reaching O’Connor Road and then did a bit of twisty stuff on both sides of Moola.

O’Connor Road is about 2 clicks east of Moola 🙂

    Well, Well, Well,….

We go away for a little bit and all MAYHEM lets loose….

What other horse ?? and did it go home in the Capri with SRB ? ( well, thats what it sounded like )
Yes Busso was great but we missed you all and sent fondness from parts distant ! We did try to join in with the Busso Hash but they are ALL BLOKES and only run on Mondays ( we think ) so that put an end to any frivolity etc. Too many Hashers do NOT have their Mobiles on in the circle and we think this is a serious problem in case of emergency ! ! ! We will check again another time..

    Till then

    ON… ON…

Yep…we turned around at O’Connor Rd…both the walkers and the runners. They reached it where it turns from paved to gravel, and we were a bit further south. Pretty sure anyway, but rumour has it that I’ve been wrong before . 😉
