The Tickheads do live off the beaten track but we didn’t expect Hashers to :
- Get lost
- Take a long way round to get there.
3.Go to the wrong venue. (err… not a real excuse)
- Turn up late dressed in lingerie (mind your own business… we cater for all tastes)
However, despite that we had a good turnout and were directed by the Hare towards the ON-ON. Of course it was a vague wave of hand in that >>>>>> direction which confused some of us. Off we marched at a cracking pace, runners took off like the wind, (bet they wished they hadn’t) and on and on and on and on and on we went…walkers following a long stretch of power line access and some of it as very much uphill…(no hills in Chidlow ?) After the FIRST HOUR we were almost at the On Home mark but it was still another 10 minutes before the house came into view…..(Pink Bits had been delirious a while back swearing she had seen the house in the bush….!)
Watching in anticipation of the runners coming back, we had a beverage and waited some more and some more and some more then after the SECOND hour there was some movement in the bush and a front running Hasher was seen coming in….BUT… Whoops…he tripped and fell 2 minutes from home and needed First Aid assistance from Pick-up Chick (Blood everywhere and he had 3 deep gashes on his knee…poor lad was in a bad way but Pick-up didn’t sew it up as she forgot the needle and thread…..Hashing is a bit dangerous !)
Yes the RUN lasted about 2hours ! ! ! but wait….. one more Hasher was missing so when Tickhead had gone off to look for him, he was ok but wanted to come in on his own so, we waited and waited and waited and then he came back…10 minutes was about 20…All up a marathon of 12 km, I believe….
In the circle the Hare was fined numerous times, especially for setting such a long run in a vehicle, (naughty, naughty..) for providing the runners with a drink stop but not the walkers…(really, really, really naughty !…) and other charges were insignificant in the scheme of things
It was an awesome run despite the complaints……pity Franga missed it…….
He would have thought it a walk in the park …..!
